LEVEL 1 DJ : DJ PESH

Experience flows in the veins of this DJ. At the age of 9 is when his quest began… At the current age of 24 he is still going strong.

At a young age Dj Pesh always had some sort of love for music, always wanting to touch his uncles hi-fi stack system, always wanting to listen to Soul 2 Soul- Back to Life, Aswad- Shine, Bob Marley- One Love. He always listened to the radio, watched top of the pops and saw that we wanted to do something with music. Lucky for him his cousin was also a DJ and let Pesh borrow his turntables. This is where the journey began….

DJ Pesh spent endless hours on the turntables learning how to DJ and eventually got the hang of it. At the age of 11 he began to DJ at private parties and weddings with his cousin where all his knowledge and experience was gaining. By the age of 15 he was recognised in the Asian community in Bolton as an established DJ. Bookings were coming in from everywhere from Preston to Leicester.

At the age of 16-17 he entered a DJ competition at Bar Juice (Bolton) and ended up being a semi-finalist. On that night a promoter from Souled Out had spotted the talent that DJ Pesh had and acquired his services to DJ. From then his journey to hit the mainstream club scene began and was gaining more recognition week by week. After working for Souled Out, Red on the Square was his next destination and it was one of his favourite places but unfortunately it only lasted for 3 months as J2 nightclub wanted Pesh. J2 Nightclub was the biggest and best venue in Bolton at that time as they had a huge refurbishment from the original Bar Juice and also had a customer base of 1700 people every weekend. Pesh saw this as an opportunity to fulfil his dream to become a resident DJ and from then it has been a success ever since.

At the age of 18 he began to venture out into the mean streets of Manchester where he started working for promotion names Brown Suga and UMS events. Working for these people gave him the opportunity to join Warner Street Team and Atlantic records where he has strong ties to. He also gained his recognition in Manchester by holding a residency by entering another completion and winning. He beat Manchester’s finest DJs and became the resident DJ of a night called I Love R&B at Paparazzi Nightclub in the Printworks. This is where Pesh was Djing alongside some of UKs biggest names, Trevor Nelson, Time Westwood, DJ EZ, Loon (Former Bad Boy Entertainment), Ja Rule (Apollo Concert), Destiny Crew (Manchester’s finest group of DJ’s and MC’s), DJ Matchstick (Atlantic Records), This lasted for a couple of years and then there ended up being another competition for the residency. Pesh went all the way to the final and lost to a very strong and very good DJ, his name is DJ Stylus. From then DJ Pesh came back to Bolton concentrate on J2 and as he was also studying in Leeds he was also brewing up a storm there. Recognition began at Lush at a nightclub called Fruit Cupboard. From there he had residencies at Creation, Rehab, Mission and was also Djing for Untouchables UK Djing at the Asian Ball events in Leeds.

At 22 Pesh decided to go back to Manchester and again was Djing for Brown Suga and UMS events and started Djing at various places, Lounge 31, Opus, Bedlam, Area 51. His longest residency was at Lounge 31 on Wednesdays (i-Kandi), and on Thursdays (Taste). Both were successful students nights.

After 6 Years he is still the resident DJ at J2 Nightclub playing Urban Anthems ranging from R&B, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, UK Garage, UK Funky and Desi Beats. Not only is he playing music, he is also playing music videos which is a rare addition in this niche market and a must see as there are not many DJs that are playing music visually, He is currently the only R&B DJ in Bolton who plays with R&B videos. He is still going strong and this is because of his regular customer base that comes to see him at J2. People from Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, and Preston regularly come J2 to see DJ Pesh, and DJ Pesh thanks all the customers who support what he does and long may this continue.
